Contractors, Pugh Lewis Limited are commencing works today to construct the planned sports pitch at Highfields.
Their works at the site off Mackworth Avenue include:
Pugh Lewis will be erecting Heras fencing to isolate the working area from members of the public.
Heavy machinery is scheduled to be delivered to site on Thursday 1 August 2024.
Pugh Lewis Ltd are hoping to complete the works within 8 weeks from commencement, subject to weather. They will be using a screener to process the soil. Clearly there will be some noise and dust. Pugh Lewis Ltd will be locating the screener as far as they can from the homes to minimise any disturbance.
The installation of the additional play area drainage will commence after the end of the school holiday, 6 September onwards.
The sports pitch will take time to establish and should be available for use in 2025, date to be determined.
On the evening of Saturday 6 July 2024, Findern Parish Council held its annual Party in the Park; with live music from Abba tribute band, Express and also, the 4 piece band, Waking Vegas. The crowd danced and enjoyed themselves whilst the sun stayed sunny and blue (unlike last year …when we discovered that dancing in the rain is quite a lot of fun!).
Supported with food from the local Scouts and Air Cadets, also, a visit from the local ice cream van, a good time was had by all.
The evening event followed the Village Hall Fete, which this year took place over three sites from noon till 4pm. The Fete Committee did a brilliant job of organising all of the games and entertainment for that.
Saturday was a day of coming together as a community to enjoy ourselves!
…and to cap it off, England won their game on penalties to get through to the semi-final of the Euros
