This is the annual meeting for the Parish of Findern; in addition to the annual report from the Parish Council, this is an opportunity for groups and organisations active in the village to give an update to residents on their activities over the previous year; and for parishioners on the Electoral Roll to raise any matters of concern to them that relates to their local community.

To consider any matters raised by electors. The Parish Meeting is an opportunity for parishioners
on the Electoral Roll to raise any matters of concern to them that relates to their local community.
It would be helpful to have written notice of any matters to be raised but it is not essential.
Matters can be raised at the meeting without prior notice.

Each case will be judged on its own merit and payments made at the charity’s discretion.

The Parish Council is consulting across the Parish to ensure that the final Neighbourhood Plan for Findern Parish (2024-2039) reflects the views of the community. The Neighbourhood Plan has been produced based on the initial consultation in 2024, when members of the community were asked to consider the local issues and concerns that affect them, their families, and their neighbours; and to identify what it is about their neighbourhood that they value and want to protect. We now need to know that the community agree, or otherwise, with the emerging Plan and consider any changes that need to be made.
By making a full response to the qualifying body, Findern Parish Council, you will be helping us to complete the Consultation Process and move forward with the development of the Neighbourhood Plan for Findern Parish (2024-2039), which we hope will be of benefit to the Parish in future years. The Plan is a draft until it is agreed by South Derbyshire District Council and by referendum of the residents of Findern Parish.
The public consultation will take place between the 10 March 2025 and 25 April 2025.

Before commencing the survey, the main document that we advise everyone to read is the full Pre-submission draft Neighbourhood Plan for Findern Parish 2024-2039, which has all the key information from all of the research documents. Alongside this, please read the Neighbourhood Plan for Findern Parish Appendices document, which offers more detail on some of the areas within the draft Plan.

A Neighbourhood Plan gives communities the opportunity to take a pro-active role in developing a shared vision for their neighbourhood and to shape the development and growth of their local area; therefore, we hope that you will take some time to study the draft Neighbourhood Plan and the supporting documents and respond via the survey to give us your views.

Derbyshire County Council have issued a Temporary Road Closure Order. Area affected is Findern Lane between Mercia Marina and traffic lights where Findern Lane meets the B5008 on the outskirts of Willington. Access will be maintained where possible; however, there will be a diversion in place for through traffic. See blue hatched line on the plan below.
The road will re-open as soon as the work is finished. This may be earlier than advertised.
Derbyshire County Council and Cadent apologise for any inconvenience caused while work takes place. Anyone needing further information should ring Call Derbyshire on 01629 533190.
Discussions are taking place between Derbyshire County Council and the relevant bus company about a possible diversion route for the bus service that normally travels between Findern and Willington along Findern Lane. This page will be updated when more information is known.
If you feel you would like to get involved in making decisions about your local community, local issues and make a significant contribution to the area in which you live or work, then this is the position for you! If have an interest in your local environment, local transport, local government finances, amenities, planning issues, community events, anti-social behaviour and policing, and want to make a difference? Then please apply!
Findern Parish Council is made up of 10 voluntary councillors who meet once a month to discuss and act on issues of importance to the local community. The Parish Council sets and monitors how a proportion of local taxes are spent in the Parish, make comment on planning applications in the Parish and consider projects to help maintain, improve or enhance the local area. Local Government is changing and Parish Councils are seeing an increase in the responsibilities and opportunities to influence decisions made that affect our local community.
No special qualification is required to be a Councillor; indeed, it is important that all sorts of people serve as Councillors to give good representation of the community. Training for new councillors is also available to help assist with understanding the responsibilities of the role.
You must be aged 18 years and over, eligible to vote and have lived or worked in the parish of Findern for 12 months or more, or within 3 miles of the parish boundary. Note, the new Highfields development is within the parish boundary.
