Contractors, Pugh Lewis Limited are commencing works today to construct the planned sports pitch at Highfields.
Their works at the site off Mackworth Avenue include:
- Construct football pitch. Pitch size 100 yards x 60 yards
- Maintenance of sports pitch until handover to Green Belt
- Works to create meadow behind sports pitch
- Install additional drains in play area connecting ng into new football pitch drains
Pugh Lewis will be erecting Heras fencing to isolate the working area from members of the public.
Heavy machinery is scheduled to be delivered to site on Thursday 1 August 2024.
Pugh Lewis Ltd are hoping to complete the works within 8 weeks from commencement, subject to weather. They will be using a screener to process the soil. Clearly there will be some noise and dust. Pugh Lewis Ltd will be locating the screener as far as they can from the homes to minimise any disturbance.
The installation of the additional play area drainage will commence after the end of the school holiday, 6 September onwards.
The sports pitch will take time to establish and should be available for use in 2025, date to be determined.
