Deadline extended for consultation on planning application for land off Sycamore Avenue

The Parish Council have been advised by the planning department at South Derbyshire District Council that the deadline for the consultation on a planning application that has been submitted for land off Sycamore Avenue, Findern, DE65 6AF, near Common Piece Lane, had been extended to 18 September 2020.

This planning application is for the parcel of land that the Council tried to buy at auction in February. The Parish Council would like to draw attention to the application and invite residents to view the application and submit their comments.

The new owner of the land has submitted an application for engineering operations to remove topsoil and lay hardcore to facilitate the change of use of land for storage purposes including the parking of cars and siting of 8 storage containers on the land.

Comments can also be sent by post to: Planning Department, South Derbyshire District Council, Civic Offices, Civic Way, Swadlincote , Derbyshire , DE11 0AH

Any objections submitted should be related to valid planning considerations. The planning department can only take into account ‘material planning considerations’ when looking at any comments. The most common of these (although not an exhaustive list) are in the attached document.

Parish Council submit objections to planning application for site at Sycamore Avenue

At an Extra Ordinary meeting on 1 September 2020, the Parish Council considered the planning application for the site at Sycamore Avenue, off Common Piece Lane. The application is for ‘Engineering operations to remove topsoil and lay hardcore to facilitate the change of use of land for storage purposes including the parking of cars and siting of 8 storage containers.’

The Councillors thank all the members of the public who attended the virtual meeting to raise their concerns about the potential development of the site. The objections to the development were wide ranging but broadly in line with those of the Members who resolved in this convened meeting to respond to the consultation with their objections to the development. A copy of the objections submitted by the Parish Council can be found here.

Residents are reminded that if they wish to submit any comments regarding the application to the planning department at South Derbyshire District Council, the deadline is Friday 11 September 2020. Details can be found here.
