Findern Parish Council Chairman voted Councillor of the Year in County Awards

The Chairman of Findern Parish Council, Councillor Tammy Brown was voted Councillor of the Year at this year’s annual meeting of Derbyshire Association of Local Councils.

Councillor Tammy Brown being awarded with a certificate for Councillor of the Year at the Derbyshire Association Local Councils Annual MeetingRepresenting all Parish and Town Councils in Derbyshire, the association invited nominations for Councillors and Councils that demonstrated exemplary work for their communities.

The judges were impressed by Councillor Brown’s outstanding service to her community and the energy she gives – not just in the work of the Parish Council, but also into the wider community, volunteering for numerous initiatives in the village.

Councillor Brown is a Trustee of Findern Village Hall, working both on the Committee and being active day to day, opening and closing the hall, and setting up tables and equipment for the groups using the space. She is an active member of the Speed Watch in the parish, co-ordinating the sessions each week and logging the necessary reports. Along with Deborah Arnold and the group of volunteers, she continues to organise the Warm Welcome Club each week, having worked on this initiative since its inception in the winter of 2022/23.  She is also the Chairman of the Steering Group for the Neighbourhood Plan for Findern parish, helping support the work of the group over the past 18 months, as we move towards adoption of our Neighbourhood Plan.

Her nomination praised Councillor Brown for doing all of this in a friendly, approachable, professional manner, not seeking any credit for herself or promoting her own political or personal agenda.

The judges recognised a true example of a genuine, community-minded person who works on behalf of the parish to make it a better place to live and work; a perfect Parish Councillor.

Thank you Councillor Tammy Brown.
