A great day for the first Community Bulb Plant

On Friday 30 November 2026 a small group of volunteers joined Councillors at the first Community Bulb Plant.

Come the springtime,  residents will be able to enjoy the sight of over 5000 daffodil and narcissus growing at the Rykneld Road entrance to the Highfields estate.

A small group of volunteers joined Councillors in the first Community Bulb Plant, planting the bulbs into the prepared ground. Crocus bulbs were planted around each tree, and small miniature daffodils have been planted into the 3 tier planters that are positioned throughout the estate. Thank you to all who came along to help!

The weather was perfect on the day, and as it was half term, a number of children joined the group and were able to learn about bulbs and how they grow.

We are all looking forward to seeing the display of spring flowers in March and April next year!
